In the spirit of the hop, I have a small excerpt from His Desire, Her Surrender. It’s a scene in a pool … just before the characters get wet and wild!

Tabitha floated on her back a moment and then swam to the deep end. She treaded water, creating ripples across the surface. Her eyes watched Marcus and her heart squeezed as she tucked away the image of him highlighted by the moon.

Marcus dove beneath the surface and Tabitha lost sight of him. She turned, trying to catch a glimpse, when something grabbed her foot, pulling her under. She bobbed back to the surface, laughing. “Marcus! I’ll have you know that I’m a very good swimmer, despite what happened in Hawaii.”

Marcus swam in behind her, encircling her with his arms. “But if you hadn’t had some trouble with that rip current, we might not have met.”

Tabitha rested her head back against his shoulder. “True, a rip current is trouble for the best of swimmers. However, we would have met anyway, somehow. I had my eye on you.”

Marcus laughed. “What? You did?”

“Of course. Do you think you can just walk around looking so handsome and no one will notice?”

Marcus dunked her under the water.

Tabitha came up, sputtering and laughing. She plunged her arm into the water and splashed him.

What is a Sinful Siren?

I’ll submit that many of my heroines are sexy sirens…in my opinion of course

I’ll provide you five snippets from His Desire, Her Surrender regarding my heroine, Tabitha. You tell me … is she a sinful siren?

They are taken out of context, but I think you can use your imagination to figure out what might be happening.

1.  Tabitha smiled. “It would be my pleasure.” All thoughts of self-preservation fled her mind. This was Marcus. He was here, right now. And she needed him.

2.  Tabitha licked her lips. Where to start? The enticing hollow at the base of his neck? His rough jaw, prickly with an early five o’clock shadow? His mouth? She hadn’t forgotten his kisses, deep and probing, his full lips on hers, his warm tongue exploring.

3.  Tabitha quivered, balanced on the precipice between coherent thought and mindless passion.

4.   Dipping her finger into the perfect chocolate mousse, Tabitha brought it to her lips. “This tastes divine. You really should try it.”

5.  Tabitha shivered with reaction. “Never let it be said I wasn’t willing to fulfill your fantasies.”

My newest release is entitled His Desire, Her Surrender. It is the second book in a series and the sequel to His Need, Her Desire. I thought I’d select a few favorite lines to share from the book to entice you. They are taken out of context, but I think you can use your imagination to figure out what might be happening.

“I do believe I’m willing.” Marcus rose from his seat and motioned for Tabitha to move toward him. He grasped her by the shoulder and leaned into her cleavage. His tongue traveled the sweet pattern of the chocolate. “You’re right. This is divine.”

Why Read an eBook?

I still buy real books. I do. I admit it. However, I do mostly buy eBooks now. I have a Kindle…but honestly, I read mostly on my phone. There are so many reasons I’ve made the switch.

For one, my bookcases are full to overflowing. As I sit here in this room typing, there are four large bookcases stuffed with books. That is just in this room. There are bookcases in the other bedroom, the living room AND the dining room. There are books in plastic storage containers under my bed and in my closet. There are crates full of books all over my home. I have … a lot of books. I just don’t physically have the room for more.

However, there are other good reasons too. I have a number of cookbooks in electronic format. It is great to look up ingredients I need while I’m at the store. If I’m stuck in line at the post office, I just whip out the phone and do some reading. I have reference materials at my fingertips. Lastly, the selection online is much better. When I moved to this town, there were two real book stores. There was a Waldenbooks in the mall and a stand-alone Borders. Both are now gone. The only places to buy books are Walmart, Target and the grocery store. No offense, but the selection is quite limited.

Did I switch to eBooks to save trees? Not specifically. I do other things … cutting down on packaging, recycling (even though it isn’t required where I live), buying in bulk, bringing my own bags etc. However, I’m a happy ebook convert. If trees get saved, that’s a nice bonus.

Being Lucky In Love

I admit it – I’ve been lucky enough to find my love, but the journey was long and hard. I’ve given some thought to what makes one “lucky in love” and I think it is finding that person who appreciates what makes you unique. Your quirks are cute and your bad habits no big deal. The question is – where do you find this person? I think that luck in love is like luck in general. It’s said that luck really isn’t random – it’s the intersection of preparation and opportunity. In this case, I think preparation would be being happy with yourself the way you are. If you’ve created a full and interesting life, worked on your issues and are mentally ready – that’s the preparation. Then when the “opportunity” comes by, you’re set. When you go to a dinner party and meet a new person, run into someone repeatedly at the local grocery or get set up – that’s the opportunity. Hopefully the right kind of sparks will fly.

What Makes a Hero a Heartbreaker?

Thinking back over the many fabulous books I’ve read with yummy heroes, I’ve tried to figure out what makes a hero so appealing that the readers are drooling. Is it looks? No, I’ve read books where the hero had more rugged or downright ugly looks but was still magnetic. Is it being powerful? No, not all great heroes are billionaires. Some are cowboys or policemen. Intelligence? Probably needed. Humor? Maybe…I’ve read a few where the hero was the strong, silent type. Could it be at some point a willingness to open his own heart? To make himself vulnerable even though he is strong?

I’m open to suggestions. What do you think makes a hero a heartbreaker?
